Alcoholism
The majority of us have believed that if we remained sober for a long stretch,we could thereafter drink normally.
We have seen the truth demonstrated again and again”Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic”
Commencing to drink after a period of sobriety.we are in a short time as bad as ever.
If we are planning to stop drinking, there must be no reservation of any kind nor any lurking notion that some day we will be immune to alcohol. There must come a day, when every alcoholic, finally sits down in the presence of his enemies.
When he or she does, they will be amazed to discover that they are attending a meeting of oneself.
The day the alcoholic realizes that his enemy is within, that the tigers are largely creatures of his own design and lurk in his own unconscious. That is the day when the problems become a reality.
The deception of others is nearly always rooted in the deception of ourselves.Until we actually sit down and talk aloud about what we have so long hidden, our willingness to clean house is still largely theoretical. When we are honest with an other person it confirms that we have been honest with ourselves.
Never again….Never say never. Most people feel more secure on the twenty four basis than they do in the resolution that they will never drink again.Living a day at a time is an excellent way to live in any sphere of life.
There has to come a time when we surrender to this powerful, baffling and cunning addiction. One can never defeat it.
In most cases the newcomer has to hit rock bottom. Not much can happen until they are guided to change there attitude and begin a program of recovery. One is not alone in there pain.Stastistics state that 22% of male adults and 12% of female adults in America have a problem with accessive alcohol intake. There is help out there. You can be blessed with wise and loving kindness, who with gentle persuasion can lead you through a mindset of acceptance.
To be successful with everything in life those who meditate constantly and contemplate deeply with striving diligence, realize and attain there goal in life……. To stop drinking is no different.
